Protank Marine Galley Hood Cleaning
Yachts have multiple HVAC air handlers and associated duct runs to service the different rooms. It is important to regularly inspect and clean your yacht HVAC systems to ensure dust/debris is removed, any presence of mold is detected and remediated, and the units function efficiently as they were designed.
Being constantly in a marine environment opens the door to exposure to moisture which can lead the microbial growth of mold in duct work and on/in air handling units. Also marine ductwork is often “fit in” during the final build stages and is often not the most efficient design. This creates cold moist stagnant air leading to microbial growth. As these molds, mildew and fungi develop in the dark recesses of the duct work, they multiply and spread like wildfire. It is these molds, mildew and fungi that develop spores that carry “mycotoxins” into the air. It is these mycotoxins that can cause innumerable illnesses, diseases and even death in humans.
Another factor to keep aware of is that HVAC units and Ducts become contaminated during exterior paint jobs when the vessel is enclosed in shrink wrap containment. All of the grinding and sanding dust gets pulled into the fresh air supply units contaminating all of the downstream duct runs. Not only does this lead to contaminated ductwork but also creates a dust layer which will absorb moisture and accelerate mold growth.
Yacht Duct Cleaning and Yacht Mold Remediation should be left to Certified Professionals. If a service provider fails to follow proper duct cleaning procedures, duct cleaning can cause indoor air problems. For example, an inadequate vacuum collection system can release more dust, dirt, and mycotoxins than if you had left the ducts alone. A careless or inadequately trained service provider can damage your ducts or heating and cooling system, possibly increasing your heating and air conditioning costs or forcing you to undertake difficult and costly repairs or replacements.
